UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

Smoothing the Journey: AirSparow's Caring Approach to Unaccompanied Minors
AirSparow: Unaccompanied Minor Policy

Prioritizing the Safety of Young Travelers

At AirSparow, the safe transport of unaccompanied minors (UMNR) is a top priority. We have established clear guidelines and procedures to ensure a smooth and secure travel experience for young flyers.

Collaboration for a Seamless Journey

  • Airport Ground Personnel: These personnel are responsible for delivering and introducing UMNR travelers to flight attendants for both originating and connecting flights.
  • Authorized Escorts: In some cases, authorized escorts may assist with the handoff between ground personnel and flight attendants.
  • Flight Attendants: Flight attendants assume responsibility for UMNR travelers once onboard the aircraft and ensure their well-being throughout the flight. They will also deliver the UMNR to a designated receiving party upon arrival.

Arrival and Reception

  • Verification of Receiving Party: The designated adult receiving the UMNR at the destination airport will be required to present identification and provide a signature before the child is released. UMNR travelers will not be released to anyone not authorized by the parent or guardian during check-in.
  • Travel Documentation Pouch: A travel documentation pouch containing essential information will be provided to the UMNR and should remain visible throughout the journey.

Connecting Flights and Support

  • Transfers and Escorts: For connecting flights, authorized escorts will be responsible for assisting the UMNR with navigating the connection process. This may involve transportation via electric cart or utilizing designated holding rooms, depending on the specific airport and connection time.
  • Supervision and Care: Airport ground personnel, authorized escorts, and flight attendants may be responsible for multiple UMNR travelers at a time. They will provide all necessary supervision and care throughout the travel journey.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Age Restrictions: Children between five (5) and fourteen (14) years old traveling unaccompanied on connecting flights require the UMNR service. Children five (5) and older may travel unaccompanied on non-connecting flights.
  • Reservation Specifications: Reservations for UMNR travel must be confirmed for the final destination and may not include connections to the last departing flight for that destination.
  • Young Adults (15-17 years old): While not mandatory, the UMNR service is available to young adults aged fifteen (15) through seventeen (17) upon request and subject to the same provisions as younger children.
  • Connecting Carrier Policies: Connections to flights operated by other airlines are only permitted when allowed by the connecting carrier's specific UMNR policy.

Fees and Additional Information

  • UMNR Service Fee: A separate fee will be applied for each UMNR traveler utilizing this service. The specific charges may vary depending on the airline you choose for the UMNR booking. For families with multiple UMNR children traveling together on the same flights, a single fee may apply, depending on the airline's policy.
  • Early Check-In: To ensure sufficient time to complete the required UMNR paperwork, early check-in at the ticket counter is highly recommended. Standard check-in times (domestic: 1 hour prior to departure, international: 2 hours prior to departure) apply.
  • Contact Information Exchange: The parent/guardian dropping off the child must provide the ticket counter agent with their complete contact information (name, address, home and business phone numbers). The same information is required for the designated receiving adult at the destination.
  • Supervision During Departure and Arrival: The parent/guardian dropping off the UMNR must remain at the departure gate until the child has boarded and the aircraft has departed. Similarly, the designated receiving adult should be waiting at the designated arrival point (Arrival Gate, Ticket Counter, or International Arrival Area) upon the scheduled arrival time.
  • Policy Updates: UMNR acceptance policies are subject to change. We recommend contacting the airline directly to confirm the most current regulations.

Ensuring a Positive Travel Experience

We advise parents and guardians to instruct their children to follow the instructions of uniformed airline crew members, agents, or authorized airport escort personnel only. Providing your child with their favorite toys, books, or snacks within a lightweight carry-on bag can help keep them occupied and comfortable during the journey.

In case of any further questions or require additional information regarding our UMNR policy, please don't hesitate to contact AirSparow. We are committed to providing a safe and secure travel experience for all our passengers, including our youngest flyers.
